The Maldives, which is officially the Republic of Maldives is a small island nation situated in the Arabian Sea of the Indian Ocean. The Maldives are at risk from rising sea levels and consist of a territory of 115 sq. miles (298 sq. kms) with a population of 379,000 (est 2020).
Temperatures in the Maldives stay within a temperature 25 – 30C year-round dropping only a few degrees at night. The best time to visit the Maldives is between December and April when the climate is drier, is less windy and hotter.
There are many wonderful beaches and opportunities to snorkel in crystal clear water teeming with exotic fish or glass bottom boats to view the coral and fish while staying dry. Many tour companies can arrange visits to the island. I’ve always found Kuoni in the UK to be one of the best and I’ve used them for many visits to Africa and the Far East.
How about an experience of staying on your very own private island, such as Lonubo for an overnight stay, or dive in one of the top 5 diving destinations in the world. Crystal clear water sometimes visibility of 50 metres.
